HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 1002
(By Delegates Nesbitt, Henderson, Walters and Harrison)
Requesting the Governor to declare that chronic high unemployment
is the "Number One" problem facing the State of West
Virginia and to state that it is a goal of the State of West
Virginia to reduce unemployment rates in the state to no
higher than the national average during the next three
years.
Whereas,
The State of West Virginia will have reduced social
service costs; and
Whereas,
The reduction of the unemployment will greatly
increase the tax base; and
Whereas,
The securing of a job will instill great pride in
the new job holders; and
Whereas,
The citizens of West Virginia find it unacceptable
to remain "Number One" in unemployment; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That the Governor is hereby requested to declare that
chronic high unemployment is the "Number One" problem facing the
State of West Virginia and to state that it is a goal of the
State of West Virginia to reduce unemployment rates in the state
to no higher than the national average during the next three
years; and, be it
Further Resolved,
That the Governor is called upon to workwith all involved entities and take all necessary steps to
achieve the goal of reducing West Virginia's unemployment rate to
at or below national average within the next three years; and, be
it
Further Resolved,
That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the
Governor.
